CHAPTER 5 PRESIDENT'S LETTER

I went in the United States Marine Corps in March,   1969 at the age of 17. During my eight years of service I was stationed at many duty stations including two tours overseas. I have been in Rolling Thunder® Inc. for six years. As a Veteran, I believe that every Veteran deserves the dignity and respect to be brought home.

Rolling Thunder® Inc. is not a motorcycle club. Our members come with many talents and some have motorcycles, some drive cars, and some drive trucks. Our major function is to publicize the POW/MIA issue: To educate the public that many American Prisoners of War were left behind after all previous wars and to help correct the past and to protect the future Veterans from being left behind should they become Prisoners of War-Missing in Action. We are also committed to helping American Veterans from all Wars.

Some of the Events we do each year:

We go to DC on Memorial Day Weekend, “The Ride For Freedom” to pay respect to our fallen Heroes as well as Demonstrate to the Government that we have not forgot the POW/MIA’S that are still unaccounted for. We will never forget until they all are home and accounted for.

We go to Portsmouth Naval Hospital two times a year to bring toys to the sick children of our Military whom most are off to war in Iraq or Afghanistan.

We go to the Veterans Hospital in Richmond and help out with a cook out for our hospitalized Veterans. This is a Va. Chapter 3 event, we helped out this past year and will continue to do so. To see the Veterans face’s as we were helping them was a wonderful feeling, they knew we cared.

Rolling Thunder® Inc. is a non-profit organization and everyone donates his or her time because they believe in the POW/MIA issue that we are working on.

We at Rolling Thunder® Inc. Va. Chapter 5 welcome anyone who wants to donate his or her time for our mission to publicize to the public the POW/MIA issues.
